reducing swelling-tips??

Although should post in Vet more viewing in here!!
my lad took a slight kick in the field yesterday, three corner cut on the inside ns fore just about 3 inches about the knee..hosed it and was abit hot but totally sound. Hes out 24/7 and hosed again this morning for 15 mins as has very fat (think half honeydue melon size) knee..still sound and not a lot of heat so figure its just the swelling from the initial kick and cut looks nice and clean. I have put arnica and witch hazel gel all around the knee area to help? and plan to cold hose again tonight..any other tips for reducing the swelling???

I usually give any of my lot oral arnica and echinea (boost immune system)and find that helps also use magmetic therapy boots but you can't apparently use these if theres a wound(vet told me this ) and continue with cold hosing.Sorry not much help as much the same as your doing already.
