My horse is being referred for bone scan to diagnose a hind limb lameness. Rossdale's website states;
"All horses coming for lameness examinations should be shod to allow for repeated trotting. The shoes should not be in danger of coming loose and it is preferable for the horse not to have been reshod in the three days prior to examination."
and
"All horses should be shod, preferably in the shoes that they have been wearing in the weeks up to referral as this can reveal the cause of lameness whilst new shoes may not. Unshod horses often become foot-sore when trotted up for lameness examination. This can be confusing and complicate the diagnosis of the true lameness."
Phil has never been shod or needed shoes. He was trimmed a week ago by the farrier. They won't require me to put shoes on, will they? I'll ask my vet when he calls back anyway, but in the mean time, just wondering
