Reflective gear - Is it a must?

Also, a hat cover is the best thing for helicopters to spot you as tabbards are pretty useless for 'from the air' vis.

I know it is a very serious subject, but that sentence made me lol! Surely it very much depends which way up so to speak you are at the time? In certain circumstances the best high viz kit would be shoes or pants?

On serious note, I always wear some sort of high viz whilst hacking, mainly rugby shirts/t-shirts from Rockfish or Derby County FC famous slime green away kit - really fetching.

I am a convert and started to wear hiviz last year. Like others have said, I too wear it out and about in fields not just on the roads.

I find that when I wear it in woods, it helps people walking with their dogs to see me and get their dogs under control before they come tearing after me. It also makes me visible to the farmers out shooting, they give me time to get past.

I wish there was more choice in hi-viz though. I have a lightweight waistcoat and a heavyweight winter coat and nothing in between. Hiviz is a growing industry so lets hope we get more choice of jackets.

My big rant when it comes to hi viz though is the fact that cyclists around us never wear it. I pass loads of cyclists everyday and sometimes you can't see them until the last minute.

People always rant about riders and their hiviz but I never head anyone moaning about cyclists.
