Always wear flourescent excercise sheet, hat band, 4 leg wraps and a bright coat with reflective piping on it, sis wears 4 leg wraps, hat band and flourescent tabard. I'm sure you can spot us a mile off and the leg wraps seem really effective as they move more so attract attention. Really don't care what we look like and when people make stupid derogatory comments I just reply that at least you can see us! Has anyone used the stirrup lights, are they any good?

I NEVER used to wear reflectives, we didnt have any on the yard, and I just never thought.

However, they a friend of mine had an accident - a driver ploughed into her from behind, somersaulting her horse over the top of the car and over her, before she was thrown clear. She was obviously injured, and was in hosptial for a few weeks.
The horse however, was left bleeding to death on the side of the road before the vet and police were unable to find the crash site. They arrived 40 mins later. Just tragic.
The got NO insurance payout whatsoever. The driver claimed he couldnt see them, and therefore was not liable.

Ever since that day I have worn a tabbard on the road, and also leg bands.
I went out hacking with YO the other day, with my tabbard on. We dont get on at the best of times, and I could see her thinking 'what is she wearing THAT for?' - it is exactly that attitude which creates accidents.

I always, always wear hi-viz when I hack out. Have been accused in the past of looking like a Christmas tree with flashing waistcoat and legband - but at least I can be seen. Had a woman come up to me in a shop once and asked if I was the person who always rode in all the bright gear. She then told me that she could always see me a mile off when she was driving - a result

I bought Ella from a large Eq. Centre and was very impressed when I was told that they were not allowed to hack out without hi-viz on. IMO, everyone should wear it always.

My gran wears a 'warning - young horse' tabbard, she's had it for years. Thing is, now her big, heavy, skewbald gelding is 20. x)

Ahh! Maybe her horse still likes to think of himself as a young 'un! Doesn't matter tho' - all riders should have bit of flouro on.

100% yes, i have worn a tabard on the roads every time out hacking, and recently my OH bought me as an early xmas present so i could use it, the shires calgary yellow flourescent riding jacket, its fabulous, i love it,its cosy and i feel like i stand out a mile, they did chuckle on the yard when they first saw me, but i think its great.
here it is

When ever i see people walking around in the dark and they are not wearing flourescent gear i get a bit angry as i feel for their safety, most i see when i get up at dark o' clock are wearing reflectives, personally i think all riders should, all cyclists etc should wear them.
I say this because i have been frightened going along the country lanes to my mare when its pitch black, only to all of a sudden be faced with a person who i could not really make out a split second before, where as when i see someone wearing reflectives, i see them miles away. They say it warns drivers by 3seconds faster as opposed to no reflectives, so i am all for them

I wear a tabard and share horse has his reflective breastplate. Would like to get my mittens on a reflective hat band and perhaps a refective whip?, might make it easier to find the damn thing if I dropped it.

I have a hat band and tabbard, horse has leg bandz, bridle and neck bands and a flashing tailguard plus exercise sheet in wet weather. we were them all the time as she is quite a dark bay and tends to blend into hedges.
I always had stirrup lights as a kid but can't seem to find any now. Do they still make them?
