I sold a saddle on Thursday to a lady who had come to collect a rug I'd sold on a for sale Facebook page.
I told her as she was local she was welcome to take it and try it and that I'd refund if no good.
It's only a cheap saddle- very good sound condition but s synthetic pony saddle so not talking big money.
She called Friday and said it didn't fit. We arranged she would bring it back on Saturday.
She didn't show up and since I've heard nothing from her. I don't know her number or even her full name (she rang me, not messaged)
So when would you hold onto the money until? I sold it because I'm in need of cash towards a saddle that does fit!
I don't want to spend it then have to find it if she suddenly appears!?

Like Fionwhinnie said, you need to give her a time limit upon which the refund is conditional. Ideally you should have done this in the first place, but you can still do it now. Just Tell her the time limit and hang on to the money for another week and see if she gets back to you.

Yes could do that FfionWinnie tbh I'm not 100% sure it was even fb, I advertised on Preloved as well but can do an ad on both I guess.
We just left it as she'd let me know the next day (which of course she did!)

No the time is ok I guess it was more the fact they arranged to bring it back at 7pm on Saturday eve and I've heard nothing since that seems a bit odd.
I also had a message off someone else interested so will be a bit annoyed if I loose a sale.

How annoying. I think really if you do those adverts you will have completely covered your back if you wait a week from when she said she was bringing it back.

Oh sorry, didn't realise that you'd actually arranged a time for her to come. I see where you're coming from.

Just put another post on the FB page where you sold it saying something along the lines of

"To the lady who bought my X saddle and wanted to return it but didn't arrive at the arranged time, please message me to arrange another time in the next five days, otherwise I will be considering this saddle sold and spending your money on a replacement. From that point on I will not be able to refund your money.. Thank you."

Yes that was the odd thing, they were so nice and really didn't seem like they would mess round. I expected a call the next day saying they forgot of something came up but nothing.
Your way of phrasing it sounds good- was wondering quite what to put!
Will get onto that tomorrow if I've still not heard.
Thanks
