Refused Insurance Cover

Why would previous horse claims be relevant?
This is the first horse ever insured.
Gosh £1200, I was shocked mine was £500 this year.
They can be relevant as if an owner has a history of lots of claims then it could show that the owner may be negligent.
Insurance is about assessing risk and aiming to pay out as little as possible while bringing in as many policies as possible and whether to take that risk or not - if person A tries to get insurance on a horse but in the past 5 years has claimed for a massive range of things then it could be assumed that their horse management is not good.

Unfortunately, you then have people like the OP that has just had a run of genuine bad luck and insurance companies are not willing to take the risk.
