Hi I am hopefully about to purchase a welsh part bred - he is currently 2 yrs old and 15h, he is skewbald and I want to show him, in hand then under saddle, I know that part bred welsh have to be plaited, so could I show him as a traditional native coloured - trimmed up as I would show a section D,
I cant upload pics but basically he looks like an old fashioned chunky section D that is coloured, he is very well marked and moves well . . .

Hi, mine is coloured, part bred welsh and I show her with mane full and tail unplaited, she's won plenty so it hasn't affected her results, however, that's only in hand, I haven't shown her under saddle yet as she's only been backed this year. Good luck

If showing in a cloured class then you can turn out as native . Not seen many shown as native if entering in welsh part bred, they only seem to be plaited

It all depends on how he looks!

If he is chunky enough to show as a native, then yes of course you could show him in that class. But if he a little more on the fine side ie: not as much bone etc, you could still show him as native but may not have good results.

I have a reg pb who is a welsh x tb and whenever i have a pb class they are all usually very flashy and plaited/trimmed etc as he is as well. Personally along with being hairy and coloured i would do a native coloured class rather than a pb class as i know in any of the classes i have done they wouldnt have looked at a heavier horse or a coloured as although hes pb you would possibly be the only coloured there!

for part bred classes turnout according to type.
class winner at the Royal Welsh this year in the part breds was an unplaited chunkier palomino.
good luck :)
