Had decided I was going to the College as it it closer but just checked and actually they are about the same distance. I know the std is higher at Addington but I am not really expecting to come anywhere just going for fun. Now Molly is a spook monster and have been told Addington is less spooky, what is everyones opionions? Doing Novice R.
Thanks
Clare

College run 3 arenas side by side, warm up in indoor.

Lots of flowers round the arena but my lad is spooky and has been fine there - only ever been twice for regionals - came 2nd in warmup test both times and near bottom in Regional test each time cos stupid rider (me) is useless when the pressure is on!

Never been to Addington so can't comment on there

We did Novice restricted at Addington Winter Regionals in Feb this year and they had the Nov Restricted in the Old indoor school. There's not a lot to spook at really, but there's no space round the edge so you do your test next to the wall which my mare found a bit spooky, but then she's not the bravest in a new environment.

At Addington the summer reg finals are all outside and the top arena can be very disracting. I have always found mine to go very well at the colege and that the atmosphere is always lovely at the college.
If you are going to have a fun day i would go to the college.
Whatever you choose good luck and enjoy.

I've been to the College with my horse who can also be a bit spooky and he was absolutely fine there, haven't taken him to Addington so couldn't comment. College has a nice atmosphere so I would probably aim for there.

If Addington use all the outdoor test arenas which is 3 i think then warm up can get a bit tight in the other arena. College has more warm up space I think. I would prefer the college compared to Addington

College will run with 3 arenas in their large outdoor and warmup in the indoor. So the plus is warmup under cover in case of summer showers, but the competition arenas will be close together and may not be good for an easily distracted horse. On the other hand, some horses may take comfort from others working close by. You've also got the "verandah" overlooking the competition arenas, so very close to the action.

Addington has 4 outdoor arenas, well separated and the new, huge showjumping arena for warmup, plus the two indoor schools which may or may not be available for warmup depending on the weather. Addington is also the last of the Regionals, so likely to be much busier - so early/late times may well apply.

As they say - you pays your money and you takes your choice.

Thanks guys, think I will stick with my original plan then and go to the College. Really depends on her mood on the day so guess either place could give up problems! going to take her to the College on the 11th as a tester and see how she behaves!
