FREESTYLER
Well-Known Member
Hi,
Well, I must say it was really nice to meet some people off this site, "my husband and I!!" met up with Big Black Beasty on Frid eve, although it was not until the next day I knew it was her. Hiya to you, and I must say what a lovely horse you have and how well you ride. You should be veryvery pleased with your results and I am sure you will progress up the ladder with no problem!
Bannanam, hiya to you too! I met her and apparently someone else had red hair there too!! How very dare they!!! She went up to this lady and said are you Freestyler.... needless to say apparently she looked rather bemused and said no!!! I hope you did well today and look forward to your report too!!!
Well, we set off on Frid eve and arrived at about 9pm. Put my boy in his box and got to bed at 11pm..we had a borrowed box as the one I normally use is still being mended, and it had all the mod cons... sleeping accommodation, running water, gas stove.... bliss!! I was up at 5am to plait but did not do the horse walk as I did not really have time... I HATE PLAITING and it takes me for ever!!! So, we went into the warm-up class as I wanted to "kill me nerves" as such... I did not push him and could have had him more up, but wanted to try and keep his energy for the champs... although we were both hot and pooped he did a great test.. we got 70.34! I was H/C so did not find this out until later on.
Back to the box for a rest for him for an hour and feed hubby breakfast... time for me to watch others do their test.... I did not realise Carthorse you were there, I did watch the Prelim but obviously do not know who you are!
Onto the Champs...I warmed up, but I think for too long... I always get too anxious about how much to warm-up for...sometimes he can be full of it other times he can relax straight away....grhhhhhhhh!!! Well, my friend and hubby said I had to get him using his hocks more blah blah.... I was sweating buckets and having not eaten fell physically sick..... all I kept on thinking was Dan Sheriff on my last lesson saying "ride the bloody horse", my hubby saying just go for it, he who dares...and my parents who had turned up to watch (which is a first!!!!)...plus knowing the horse could do it but the rider was a bit pants!! Anyway.. enough blah blah... did my test, first part went well, then came to the first medium trot, didnt balance him, drove too hard, he broke into canter....all I thought was "[****]".. blown it., darn, bugger etc etc!!! then I remembered what I was told, "get on with it, dont harp on about your mistakes!!"... I came out a little peeved... kicking myself and thinking if only.........
Scores came up, I could not look, hubby went to see and his face was "oh my god"..... I though oh no....61,62???? I got 69.8!! I was fourth in and had to wait for hours......nail biting, I went and mucked out, walked around... could not watch the rest.......Anway cut a long story short I came second, and am going to the Nationals!!! The girl who won had a lovely cheshnut who did a great foot perfect test and they got 71.?
The only down side is my hubby is drag racing that weekend and so I have to go without him... he is my mentor and fab groom and driver!!!!!!!! I am now trying to entice my friend to take me!!!!!!!!!
Once again, lovely to meet you Big black beasty and Bannanman!!!!!!!
