Hello All

I have a question on Overstamping. I know in the UK you have a passport with one organization but may overstamp or a type of double register with other organizations. Thus a horse may have a passport as an Irish Sport Horse but also have an overstamp with SHB GB. Correct? When the horse is listed or published with the overstamping organization, will that second organization list the original organization in the registry list?

ie. Registrations and Overstamps 2015

Bubba xxxx 2011 geldling by xxx out of xxx (ISH xxxx)

That way the reader sees a horse's is overstamped. The organization I belong lists all overstamps and registrations the same way, so the reader can not tell if the horse has a passport or an overstamp. Thus you don't know if the horse's passport is with another organization. I find this helpful, so if I want to look up award results or if a horse is competing outside a breed show easier to look up. I also think it increases the horse's value.

Here in the States my breed organization lists all the registries (if information provided) a horse is registered. I find it very helpful

Just wondered how the breed registries list horses in the UK.

Thanks
GG

Overstamps aren't normally listed unless its a Stallion or Mare approved by stud books rather than just overstamped
My filly is ISH registered and overstamped SHBGB- this was purely to compete in inland sports horse classes (although rules have now changed)

Thanks. I asked my UK breed organization if they would list if the horse was overstamped or registered with us. They will not. All are listed the same. I think it is a shame as members learn how many are registered with us vs. overstamped. Plus if the horses compete in open competitions like Badminton, you might be able to find them faster as I think their PIO is listed not the overstamp. I might be wrong. Thanks again.

IF you look at the UELN a UK horse will have 826 and the next 3 numbers indicate the studbook who issued the passport you can look the codes up on the UELN website. No new UELN is issued when overstamping

Good advice, Thanks

Thanks. I forgot about the very long official number. Our studbook only lists the last four numbers, so you don't know which has a passport with our studbook or if it is an overstamp unless you ask the individual owner or conduct a web search.
Thanks
