My sister has given me her pony but just with the new forest breed passport I have nothing in writng to say she has transfered/sold him to me.

The passport is now in my name so does that legally mean he is mine??

As RosieandJim has said, a pasport is NOT proof of ownership. In the case of the OP, I would suggest you request a signed, dated, witnessed 'receipt' from your sister.

when buying and selling it is always a good idea to just have a signed peice of paper at both ends. Once you have registered the horse under your name i presumed it would be proof of ownership so im not sure about that?

all as you need to get from your sister is a simple reciept loupeeloe, a passport really isnt proof of ownership so dont rely on it (in fact have a read of the passport, it probably says on there, cant remember as its so long since ive looked at mine)
