regularity of scanniong/ testing confirmed mares ? advice plz

Novice 2 nd time only mare in foal

Many years ago i bred a foal from one of my mares buit seemed so simple in those days, I sent my mare away, she came back and we waited, my how things change
My beloved Rheinland mare was sent away to stud and we have confirmed first scan, heartbeat scan and 60 day scan, at this point she returned home ( may i point out that her first pregnancy got to first scan but didnt progress to heartbeat - she absorbed - stud terminology, cant say i understnad what that means. she was injected to bring back into season and now as above )
She s been backl a month or so now so I guess that leaves her 3 onths in foal fingers crossed, what do you mopre experienced breeders do in the way of knowing she s still in foal, scan at 100 days, any tests that can be carried out ,observ ational characteristics etc,
She s on regumate to prevent her cycling ( hopefully ) so rather chilled etc buit would love to know what to look out for to know everything is as it should be

My mare is 5 months now and just for reassurance I got a "wee-foal" pregnancy kit. It's 98% accurate and only need some urine to do it. Was very easy to use and at 30 pound thought it was worth a go!

I'm also very nervy about one of my mares as she lost her foal that was due this may. i had her scanned a couple of weeks ago at 105days... no reason why i should have been concerned, just my own stressing and all was well.
my 'plan' is to now just monitor her closely, obv get the vet out again if there is anything that really worries me, but then to do wee-foal tests every now and then.

I'm sure your are will be fine :)

I think thats what I was debating a 100 day scan, did your vets bring portable scanners or did you have to transport her to a larger vets ? and is it mega expensive? ive just paid a beautiful 16 weeks stud livery bill :-( but hopefully it will be worth it

Yes I think i need to do something, and price various scenarios that you and others given and then as you say, keep a check and those wee checkers and blood tests seem a great idea and relatively inexpensive , she used to be a really flirty girls with the boys so i'm petrified re her flirtin but reguamte seems to have done the trick so far , everything crossed eh ?

My maiden mare was about 150 days when she got colic in the field, for no reason I could see. She was fine afterwards but I got my vet out the following week to scan her, this was done in about 15 minutes and all was well, the foal was about the right size and moving etc. Cost about £100 and worth it for my peace of mind. Since then (september) her tummy has got much bigger, so I think there is a foal in there!!
 
ah thanks guys much appreiated, I shall defo get her scanned soon, brilliant stuff and yes that wont break the bank acct too badly for thr peace of mind ps Gucci, I bought that book the first time i bred its fantastic isnt it :-) i follishly lent it out n cant remember who to :-( thinkits time to purchase a new one

this is what I do, and why I do what I do

14 day scan (obviously!)

40 day scan (check for twins)

after 100 days a blood test (very accurate) to confirm still in foal (so that if mare is not in foal can arrange over wintering to accordingly)

I do not Vacc for Herpes as we are very low risk,
