I have a mare that has been on Regumate a year now. Last Feb after an awful winter with her she was scanned and it was found that there was nothing sinister but she was continually ovulating (something about follicles on one starting when follicles on other finishing) and was even extra sensitive to the scan. She was put on regumate and became a totally different horse! The vets I used moved back to their home base and said they would no longer service our area. Luckily I managed another 2 bottles out of them on prescription but have now said (understandably) because horse is no longer under their care they cannot give any more prescriptions.
Is it ok for her to continue on the regumate indefinitely? If I take her off will she go back to irregular seasons or will she have regulated now?
The new vets dont give prescriptions but will sell me the bottle at £180! I used to pay £10 for prescription and get it online for £106. The cost has been well worth the happy horse that I can finally ride and do stuff with but the new price is making me question if I am doing it for me or for her? Obviously if still safe for her and if she wont return to normal seasons I will pay the £180.
