Moose has started work now from Kissign Spine surgery, I am luning for 20 -25 minutes a day to start building muscle mass as well as water treadmill once a week. Now here is my question, I need to keep him active behind and working into the bridle, he would very much like to plod around.....I have been told to use a pessoa on him which i bought and I have used it twice so far. What is the best way to get him to use his hind end??? Is it to just keep driving him forward while he is stretching over his back or would you move the position to bring him more into a frame??? Sack off the pessoa thing and lunge him in side reins in his tack???? ohh I dont know what to do!!! cookies for getting this far!

If you do a search lots of people on here rate the equiami over a pessoa.

I have a pessoa copy, and the horse that I used it in just seemed to claw himself along it it. Mind he was a lazy so and so, and would claw himself on the forehand in anything.

With my new horse, I have purchased one of these: http://www.sydneyfree.co.uk/acatalog/HO_Lunge_Aid.html

This gives the same work out as the "draw rein" arrangement also described on here. When I first started using it, it didn't seem to be doing much. However, I used it a couple of weeks ago when I had a saddle on the horse, and really needed to shorten up the pieces of string, so they didnt get caught up under the saddle... cue one horse working how it should in it!
