Just wondered if anyone had any personal experience of anywhere in the Surrey/Hants/Berks sort of areas? I dont quite know how long Monty is going to end up on box rest for but with the hours I work it is really hard to give him the time he needs with cold hosing, hand walking, grooming plus the general mucking out etc.

Also given what I think he's done I suspect he would really benefit from spa treatment and so seriously thinking about sending him somewhere where they have a spa/horsewalker etc and can look after him for a few weeks. I did the box rest on my last horse all by myself and it nearly drove me insane. It would be even better if he went somewhere with someone who was willing to get on and do the first bit of ridden walking themselves as he's a nutjob to hack at the best of times and I cant risk getting injured. Any experience of cost of this type of livery?

All a little bit pie in the sky at the moment but I like to be prepared and if he goes to vets this week and I get the answers to what is going on I'd like to know what my options were.

Thanks.

Not the area your after but would thoroughly recommend this place, plus there is also a price list on the website for all the facilities (treadmill and water treadmill) they offer so gives you an idea of cost. Although the majority of cases when I worked there used to be able to claim all or part of costs on insurance.
Don't be put off by it being a college, the horses are looked after by full time experienced staff members, the only students on the yard are always fully supervised and the facility is completely separate to the main Hartpury yard.

unfortunately Monty has decided to injure the one leg that is only covered for accidental external injury. I think "external" might be key to this injury as the damage is internal, so despite it being accidental I think I could have a fight on my hands to get this back on insurance. Thanks for the details though - interesting to compare different yards even if not in my area.

thanks. I was thinking spa rather than pool as I dont think swimming will benefit him but the cold water spa treatment could really help if there is any tendon sheath involvement. the first link looks spot on though - good to have a personal recommendation. thanks :D

Mildmay Farm and Stud in Whitchurch, Hampshire, have a spa and solarium. They rehab horses, absolutely lovely yard, would really recommend.

We have a mare on livery in cobham, Surrey recovering from a tendon injury having had stem cells etc. It isnt a specific rehabilitation place but they have done cold hosing, stable bandaging etc and have a walker which she is now doing her walk work on. It's a rectangular yard with stables around edge so plenty for them to watch going on and horses never all turned out at same time so never only one left in. I think we pay either £550 or £600 per month.

The one in langley (priory farm) is close to me, friend took her boy there recently to use the spa and said it was absolutely lovely and our main RC instructor also knows the yard and recommends. There is also one in Binfield, near ascot, can't remember name but can find out. Would def look into Priory farm tho, fairly easy journey from guildford, took me 40mins in lorry the other night to Ripley.
