Please no nasty comments etc as this is hard enough without digs about it.

I need to rehome Rocky our 10 month old cocker x pointer. He is castrated, vaccinated, wormed, fully house trained etc.

He is a fab dog and suitable for someone with an outdoors kind of life.

He has been around babies, toddlers, older kids, cats, other dogs and horses since he was weaned and is great with all. He has come hacking with me.

He is well mannered and was taught from the start that mouthing is not acceptable so no play nips etc.

He loves life and humans and is incredibly loving and exuberant. He is very intelligent and has picked up every new command in the first training session just because he wants to learn and please.

He has amazing athletic ability and I think he will make someone a fab agility or sports dog. Although we don't encourage jumping due to his young age he often pops over fallen trees etc just because he enjoys it.

He is happy to be left alone without fussing/barking and is fully crate trained. From weaning he has slept overnight in a crate for a good 12 hours a time (he likes his sleep!) without fussing, crying or messing.

He is toy obsessed and if allowed will play all day. But understands when you say no that the game is over.

He will make someone a fab dog and I will be devasted when he has gone.

If anyone knows of a suitable home for Rocky please let me know. We are NW Kent/London borders.

Sorry to hear you can't keep him :( Been there myself in the past and I know how heart breaking it is (((hugs)))
He sounds wonderful. Can't help with a home but fingers crossed you find the perfect place for him. :)

Should have said - he has taken pointer looks and size rather than cocker. And mum (the cocker) is a working dog for a gamekeeper and Rocky shows working ability.

He sounds absolutely perfect and I promise I am not taking a dig at you at all - but have to ask WHY? Its just that any potential new owners will be bound to question his description if you don't say why you no longer want him? And maybe a picture would help too?

I hope you find a nice new home for him - he sounds like such a little superstar and deserves to be loved doesn't he?:)

It is purely personal reasons. It's nothing to do with him as he is a complete star. People who meet him are amazed how well behaved he is for his age and I've yet to meet anyone who has not fallen in love with him.

I will link to my Photobucket which has loads of photos of him.

If that is the case then you have my utmost sympathy - must be heartbreaking but Im sure he will find a new home as he sounds perfect.:)

What personal reasons? No room? Not allowed to have him? IF he is so wonderful I don't understand why you can't keep him? He is gorgeous!

Don't want to be rude but the kind of personal reasons that are personal and irrelevant for rehoming.

Does it matter in terms of rehoming whether it is because, using your examples, I have no room or am not allowed to keep him?

Suffice to say the reason for rehoming is absolutely not to do with Rocky.

Good luck and I hope you find a first class home, to add, dont change his chip details until you are happy he is fully settled in his new home even if a good few months down the line (no rush to do so) :)

Biccy All I can say is I am really sorry you have to find a new home for Rocky, he is a lovely boy and I can see from your video that he would make a fantastic working dog.

I know what you are going through having to home my deerhound, after lots of interviews with prospective owners he has now gone to the most fantastic home. You will find the perfect home for Rocky and although your heart will break as he leaves your home, you will be happy in the knowledge you have found him the perfect home.

My OH is a fisherman and he shoots, he will put the word around for you, dogs of Rockys talent are well sort after. But as someone else said, if you are not wanting money for him, you can offer him to the police dog drugs unit.

Good luck to you and Rocky, the lovely boy

Ah he's lovely. What size is he would you say? X

He's a few inches shorter than both the in-law's retriever and a friend's lab.

I would say he's around 50cm from floor to the top of his back.

He is leggy and his body is completely lean and muscley - he's not a "big" (wide) dog. He hasn't grown that much in the last 2 months and his body has retained the same shape in that time.

To see him in full flight is a joy to watch as he gets low to the ground and just flies along. The only dogs we have found to be faster than him (when ball chasing!) have been whippet/greyhound types.

Forgot to add - he is good off lead (he has been off lead since his first walk) and will happily mooch loose around a yard safely.

I'll def look into the drugs unit as I think he would thrive as a working dog. He has such a work ethic as he wants to please.

His favourite thing is us throwing a ball when he's not looking  and him having to sniff it out. His tail goes mad when he's doing that and we've not lost a ball yet...

To a prospective homer, yes. If actually the personal reasons are that he is very energetic etc. and you can't cope, people need to know that. Why can you not say it's because you are not allowed to keep him, are ill, no money or whatever? Can't imagine what personal reasons there are that cannot be broadly described unless there is actually a reason that people might think is a bit poor, i.e new baby, don't want a dog anymore, bored of dog. Just sounds dodgy to me tbh.
Hope he finds a nice home,

maybe the op is happy to tell a prospective homer but prefers not to broadcast it on the internet on an open section of a forum?

OP he looks lovely, I hope you can find him a fab home.

I can imagine this is a difficult thing for OP to do, your comments will not help the situation., I know only too well how she must be feeling, I am sure her decision to find a new home for Rocky is a hard and well thought out one, for what ever the reason may be. Don't labour the point, Susie, wish her and Rocky well for the future and leave well alone

Hope he finds a nice home,

None of those reason seem personal to me, and Im sure if it were something trivial like blumming landlords the OP would say. Not everyone wants their PERSONAL life splashed all over an internet forum.

Agree with Lexie....

Very sorry you are having to give up your dog. No need to broadcast personal problems on this forum.

He's gorgeous. I'm so sorry you are having to part with him. My parents have just taken my bitch to live with them. She needed a quieter 121 relationship which I couldn't give her. After a day she had settled in which is amazing coming from a dog who I rescued 4 yrs ago as a complete nervous wreck!
