Rehoming a 'speshul' pony

There's a strong chance I'm going to have to rehome the pony :( She isn't really worth anything and she is a bit speshul in the head :p so finding a good home is more important than anything. As she isn't the easiest pony in teh world (jumpy/spooky not naughty) would rehoming with a contract be a good idea? If she did have to come back at short notice I could find a temporary home for her to go to.

I want to plan it now so I don't have to rush if I can't cope financially - livery bills are going up (again :rolleyes: ) and I don't want to move yards until I can get a new job and house sorted as will prob have to move areas.
 
You are kidding aren't you? If the pony in question has a problem it would be far kinder to let her go to horsey heaven.
 
No, I'm not kidding. She's not dangerous, she's not naughty - she's just a bit speshul. If she was dangerous in any way then I'd have never had her in the first place. She'd make a cracking lead rein show pony - the reason she isn't is because I don't have any desire to be around small children :p

The pts brigade can pts-off in this case ;)

My horse spooked at a plastic bag once, a few years ago...

I had her put to sleep. It was kindest all round. ;)

...On a serious note, as you say the pony isn't naughty or nasty then yes, definately look to rehome her if thats what you need to do. Do you need to sell, or will you be looking at loaning her out? How old is she, and why isn't she 'worth anything' ?

Contact your local pony club and see if they have any experienced children looking for a new ride :D you never know - maybe gymkhana will be right up her street :)
 
Why on earth was PTS suggested?

OP yes re homing or looking for an experienced PC child would best

Seems to me horses are getting PTS left right and centre when sometimes sortable !
 
Thanks guys, didnt think of local pony club. I say she isn't worth anything coz she's a Section A that hasn't done much at all. She was wild on the hills for 5 years then left in a field for 5 years. I've done a lot of inhand showing with her and backed her but that's it. She's sweet as anything tho - I'd only had her a very short while before taking her to her first show - she loaded herself into the trailer and was as good as gold travelling and at the show :) However she jumps at stupid things and is as likely to walk into the gate and scare herself as she is to walk through it :rolleyes: but has never once bitten/kicked or even threatened it :)

Christ - is PTS the answer to every problem on here jeez.

Can only advise what everyone else has said - advertise in local papers etc to loan - just be honest with your adverts..

Failing that well then PTS :-)

Coz she's speshul :p I have no idea if a parent would put their child on her. I'd like to think they would - she'd probably be fine on the lead rein but not so sure about off it due to random wussishness :rolleyes: She's 11 btw - not that it makes much difference lol :)
