Rehoming centres and advice please.

Not really a waiting list as such anymore, depends more on if there are dogs suitable for your circumstances, you have to re apply every 3 months too. Try looking on the website for details of how to apply.

Another vote for GRWE if you are looking for a greyhound/lurcher type - they are brilliant, I have had 8 from them so far :)

Dont be put off by the name (which they are just in the process of changing) - they cover most of the UK now not just the west of England.

ETA - and if you want a really, really good dog you can't find anywhere better than Cayla's rescue on here - she is based up North but can arrange transport etc, I have one from her who is absolutely perfect in every way (and she knows it! :) )

I've got family up north in Yorkshire so go up there regularly anyway, so Cayla would be an option!

Ive just had a pup from many tears. Very sensible, we also have cats and other dogs, and shock, horror a 2 year old daughter. My daughter is dog savvy having grown up with 4 collies and a jrt. I also work but there is only someone out the house for a few hours. I'm really pleased with the pup and happy to give my money to them rather than someone breeding to make a few quid quickly

We picked up a pup from these folk at the weekend - http://www.aadogrescue.org.uk/

They were excellent to deal with, keep all the dogs on site rather than in boarding kennels/foster and were totally sensible about our situation - we work and have an older, entire male dog. They were totally positive about the situation throughout and we now have an adorable 7 month old boxer x staffy on a weeks trial, though there's no way he's going back. They encourage to you visit - kennels are open daily - where you can meet lots of dogs in one go and see how you get on.

We'd been ignored and refused by several rescues, AA were a breath of fresh air. It really felt like they cared about finding us the right dog and I liked the fact we got a weeks trial before handing over the full adoption fee too.
