I am regrettably having to consider selling or rehoming my 3 year old fell pony. The reason being that the current place I keep him will be no longer available and I can't find any other yards that can cope with his needs and mine ( he is a native and needs restrictive grazing and everywhere around here seems to have masses of lush green grass) most livery yards are geared up for sport horse owners who don't have challenge of keeping weight off.
Basically he is a nice pony a black fell pony about 13hh. Very solidly built and lovely character. Almost unflappable. Walks out in traffic, good for farrier etc, loads and was shown once.
But, he has developed one small nodular sarcoid on inside of front leg and was box rested this year after a kick from another horse in shared turnout-now fully healed.
His sarcoid has never bothered him and the vet said it was just cosmetic.
His good points far outweigh the bad.
My options as I see it are:
Rehome or sell but how marketable is he?
Put in breaking/schooling livery and offer for sale or loan when broken but I have limited time and I think I would rather he was broken at 4 in a few months.
Are there any other options that I'm not seeing?
This is a pony that I had hoped I would have for many years, I never had any intentions of selling but circumstances change and the moving yards is just another added challenge.
Sorry for the long post - all views would be gratefully received.
