Ok I know I am posting quite a few posts about show tack etc (sorry). Just don't want a judge complaining about ANYTHING, unless I fall off!
Reigns, I am buying some new reigns to use for showing, but I don't know what style to get......... I will be showing a 17hh2" hunter in a rugby pelham..... so 2 pairs of reigns....
I generally find plain leather reigns kind of tricky in terms of grip, never mind if I had 2 pairs to hold onto........
so I was thinking the weaved reigns?

anyone got any opinions or suggestions? all welcome!

HELP!

I did showing when I was about 9, and my mum had the brilliant idea of putting my pony in a double bridle

Unfortunately my little hands got all of a tangle with two pairs of reins. Mum got me some half lined reins that have pimples on the inside but are plain on the outside. Don't think judges noticed, and if they did nothing was said, and we were regularly top 3. They might help you

I'm sorry this isn't about reins (I know nothing about showing) but Reign is what the queen does. Her style is to ponce around looking posh

I used to show my cob at local level and agree plain reins can be muddled up, yes one is thicker than the other, but when you are in the middle of the show ring, it can get a bit confusing. My saddler shows regularily and he recommended that we try a plaited rein on the snaffle ring of the pelham, with a plain ring on the curb ring. We were certainly never out of the top 5.

My cob is now 15 and he is now a happy hack and a very happy hunting cob. I have to ride him in a mullen mouth pelham with a very tight curb chain and two reins. I use one set of Jefferies reins (they cost about £35 a pair), sorry, dont know which type, but they are rubber ones and are very soft, not like your ususal thick rubber reins, and one set of plain ones.

Good luck with your pony.

thanks, I am thinking about getting laced reins I think they are called, sorry atwork for my poop spelling!
Should I just get the laced reins for the snaffle then, with plain ones for the curb rein?
Gosh this is all so complicated!

Plaited or laced reins for the snaffle, slightly thinner plain rein for the curb. Make sure they're the same colour - some cheap laced reins can be a weird colour!
