Reiki - has anyone tried it, on themselves or their horse?

I have had Reiki done and have also had it done on my horse.

it is a very gentle and non invasive form of healing and is very good for animals. I would recommend it.

my mum is a reiki master and I have done the level one, but I don't use it much although I intend to use it more on my horse now.

I have seen it used on a horse with aeromatherapy.

TBC changed my perspective as the mare was 4, had just self aborted a foal, and was in shock, I think it saved the mares life. and saw a difference - this was 22 hrs after she aborted (foal was nearly full term) and we thought the mare was going to die of shock, she was lying with her head in my lap rolling her eyes. It was a last resort and I believe it worked in this instance.

And this coming from someone that isnt really holistic!

i have no idea, but just because the practitioner doesn't touch the person/horse, doesn't mean it won't work. that's like saying magnetism or radiation won't work, because they work without physical contact, or that electricity won't work because you can't see it. i hope that makes sense... i know what i mean!

Bailey had Reiki when he was recovering from a nasty virus/ illness and reacted very well. Like FF I am not big into the "holistic approach" and I was quite suprised to actually see a difference in him during/ after a session.

Mmmm, yes I see what you're saying. I remember my sis saying it was something to do with passing on the healing energy. I think it's great if it works.

I've done Reiki level one as well. I've used it on a few horses and it has made a difference but I don't use it on anyone else other than myself. I would like to do Level 2 and further but haven't yet.

i'm really sorry don't beleive at all but if you want to give me consultation dosh, i'll come to your's and 'lay stones and hand' over said ponies and give you lots of positive vibes..........

But if you DO beleive it's helps, that's good postive thoughts and mabe it will help in your action/mangement on helping said horse.

I personnel wouldn't go there but hey we've all different - i hope it works for you

my horse has had it done to her when we were having probs bending in our schooling and it was like a total transformation she is soo much easier and instructor has even said she was moving better and she didnt even know she had had one! :O

i would say try it - i was sceptical aswell but was plesantly surprised!

My ex gf was qualified in it and did it to my horse. He just stood there pulling faces and looking bored.

Hello - first post!

I'm qualified to level 2, but only because I'm interested in it, not because I want to practise. Don't ask me to explain it though. All about energy levels and spinning chakras!

I find alternative therapies 'interesting', although I'm not a hippy and am quite sceptical about a lot of stuff. All I can say is it works for me. I feel....stuff, and it relaxes me - always a bonus.

I have tried it out on some friends and family members. If you get the energy flowing there is an incredible heat (my mum's arthritic knees), and my hands are normally very cold. You can scan areas by just running your hands above it, and picking up hot or cold spots. Tried it out on my old (no longer with us) dog too. She used to grunt and just relax.

All I can say is it seems to work for some and not others. I don't think it will ever sure some dreadful disease, but for me it helps with stress levels.

5 years ago I would have just laughed if anybody suggested Reiki to help my horse, but now, its a regular thing. I now get a Reiki Master out to my babes every few months, even if nothing is evidently wrong.

He totally relaxes, and you can visibly see a difference in him within a few days.

It impressed me so much I did the Level 1 Reiki course and am planning on doing the Level 2 soon.

feel free to pm any questions

I'm qualified as an Equine Reiki practitioner, but only reiki my own horses and those of friends. I can't get comfortable with the idea of charging people for something which helps horses TBH, so have no plans to change this at the moment!

I am yet to meet a horse who doesn't lap reiki up, whether they have something specific they need it for or just to give them a slight "boost".

FeuFolet I never thought the day would come when we would actually be agreeing on something!
