reiki on horses

Tomorrow Fly Boy is having a session of reiki. This is a new one for me so I am very interested to see what happens. He is not quite right, can't put my finger on it but does not seem 100%. A friend put me in touch with this guy who specialises in horses and he is doing it for mates rates with no call out so I thought what the hell! Just wondered what to expect and would appreciate hearing other peoples experiences. x

Good luck, I hope you see some benefit and I hope its not too expensive.

From what I know of Reiki they place their hands on the subject and don't actually do anything ... like manipulation etc, so I cannot see what benefit it can bring, but then I am a sceptic about these things.

Its amazing after a very serious accident where my horse almost died a friend sent a reiki healer to me and my horse, what a massive improvment within two weeks of constant everday healing I was on my boys back again.

Be open minded to it and just go with it.

My sister, who is a practioner, did some reiki on my mare. I was pretty sceptical that by just holding her hands over her (didn't actually touch her) she could make a change. My mare, who was usually a stressy type, became completely relaxed. Not convinced you could 'cure' anything but also I don't think it can do harm.

Reiki simply boosts the horse's own healing mechanism to work quicker.

I am a reiki healer and the horses who I have worked on generally relax very much during the treatment. One who was recovering from a tooth abcess was much more snotty than usual afterwards (vet had recommended steam inhalations to get the horse to sneeze up snot so the owner was very pleased!). Reiki can cause an emotional or physical release too. Not to be used instead of conventional treatment, but a great aid to it.

i have had a go at it under supervision and the responses you get from the horse are great, lowering the head, licking and chewing. its very interesting
