Reinforced Mesh or not?

Hi All. So doing a concrete slab to put three stables and small storage room with a bit of a yard. 40ft x 25ft. Do I really need the steel reinforced mesh? If so are there any cheaper alternatives? The cost just keeps escalating And what depth suggest on concrete 100mm or 150mm? Thanks for your advice

I didn't have steel mesh, I have a sort of plastic( damp proof?) membrane and 6" concrete.for pretty much the same set up as you. It was a good few years ago now, it's been fine. The groundwork did cost more than the stable block though!
