Always wear gloves can't ride without them.
I always use rubber reins, dressage to show in, with plain reins for the curb rein, don't like using anything else.
Hate plain leather reins for normal riding, no grip. With use them on a curb rein though.
I love webbed ones, but tend to ride with rubbers for any type of fast work. When Im hunting/TC/XC my worst nightmare is plain leathers, almost killed my self out hunting a Belg WB a year ago with just 2 leather plains on a pelham. Tend to ride in 2reins, both rubbers, with one thinner than other. Dont use gloves out hunting if its not really cold, like to feel the contact, not easy through woolen whites, but for xc/sj and obv drs I wear them
i like the reins with stopper thingys and webbed ones great for xc if i dont wear gloves with rubber ones my fingers sliped! hate lather reins and i ride in gloves!
I use dressage reins, rubber one side. Love them as they are grippy but without the bulk of the bobbly rubber reins.
I have ridden with most types of reins when I was having regular riding school lessons. My least favourite were really thin plain reins. Couldn't get on with them at all.
I always ride in gloves, infact I can't bear to even get on without them.
I looove continental reins. So flexible and gripy though they hurt like hell if they get dragged through your hands- soon teaches you to slip them!
Hate plain leather unless they are very expensive, soft ones. Not too keen on rubbers but I think it is because they tend to be so wide, if they were narrower then I don't think I would mind so much.
I tend not to ride in gloves, have far more grip and feel without but obviously I wear them for comps or exams. Have to be thin though- I have a pair of roeckl sj ones and they are lovely, I hardly notice I have them on. Could do with a new pair- hope santa's listening!
Im abit strange and with me it depends on the horse. With Sunny who is a LW TB type and VERY sensitive i ride with dressage reins and very very thin gloves if i have to, but with a big fat strong cob type i prefer rubbers (thicker) and thicker gloves as you dont need such a sensitive contact. With Sunny i have to be so gentle and feel everything that she does thats why i like everything to be as fine as poss. I hate plain leathers and webbing reins. Recomend the dressage ones to anyone, love them to bits!
I use rubber reins, not keen on continental or plain leather reins. Always wear gloves for riding, feel like something is missing if I don't wear them!
I like Rubber or dressage reins to ride in, for in-hand showing where a curb is used, then I like laced/plaited (the one with the bits of leather interwoven frequently down the reain) and plain or dressage reins. Was a HUGE fan of continental reins when I was a teenager, as I could block him more esily with them! I mean I found bridging my reins easier with them - he was a strong oik!! Now I HATE THEM!!!
I ride with laced reins, i'm not a fan of plaited reins and plain aren't my favouite either!
I cannot ride without gloves- it drives me mad and distracts me no end!!
Hate continental though do have a pair on a work bridle at present, always use rubber/eventa for jumping, xc and fast work, also have dressage reins which are ok. Will only use plain leather rein as a curb rein. I always wear gloves and tend to prefer the roeckl thin ones, nice and grippy but not bulky.
Love webbing reins, HATE rubber reins! I hate that thick dead feeling rubber ones have! Am shocked to see so many use them!! Glove wise - I sometimes ride without but when I do wear them, I use Magic gloves at home and SSG at competitions - SSG's are the only 'posh' gloves I wear! I hate leather ones etc.
Rubber are the best although prefer them to be slightly worn so are soft and not very hard, but also like plaited and dressage reins. I don't usualy ride in gloves unless it is cold but always had to ride in them on my college course or the tutors would have a fit and the reigns wernt always very comfy without them.
i ride with continetal and really like them
despise plain leather rein afther making the huge mistake of riding in the rain in them, never did again after that
i normally ride in gloves, i like my fingerless gloves when the weathers a bit warmer
I have my reins made to measure by my saddler. I like the orange racehorse rubbers and have them put on to shorter than normal leathers. I do this because I find that normal reins are too long and usually need knotting and the orange rubbers are miles more grippy!
