Hi Newbie to the forum here, I'm 54 yrs old and have been horse mad since I was a little girl! I rode regularly through my childhood and into my early 20's, when sadly life got in the way and I stopped :( I then returned to riding for a couple of years in my mid 40's but due to lack of funds after my divorce stopped again. I was diagnosed with Long Covid last year and have had to close my dog walking business, and am unable to be as active as I was, so I have bought some of the horsey books I read as a child and have delved back into my first love! I am now watching natural horsemanship/equine retreat videos on YouTube and LOVING catching up on all the missed years! So any recommendations for horse fiction would be appreciated - just finished rereading all of the Jinny and Shantih books, and am currently reading The One Dollar Horse for the first time! :)

Hello Maxine,

Sorry you’ve had such hard trials over the past year ?.
Simply reading about horses brings you closer to them doesn’t it?
I have no suggestions other than stay away from Black Beauty, I read it as a child and am still traumatised ?.

Thank you, its definitely been an interesting year! Yes reading horsey books is definitely igniting my love of horses again, and of course, we know have the added bonus of the internet that wasnt around when I was a child!
I actually still have the copy of Black Beauty that I had as a child and know what you mean - that at The Horse Whisperer still make me cry!
