Relax Me- Any negative results?

I'm just about to start my young mare on this and was wondering if anyone has tried it and it HASN'T worked?

I seem to have only read good things but it can't be THAT amazing can it??;)
 
Wierdly I dont know anyone who has not had any good from it, however I do have to feed over the recomended amount to have the effects but Robert explained some horses can be like that
 
initally I gave him 4 times the dose if I remeber Robert said you can go up to 5 times but now I feed a lot less, I feed the loading dose as maintenece(sp) so still get through it quicker but only thing I have found to work. Used to feed Beta mag12 thats good too but got better results with Relax me
 
I had great results from it on my mare for about 5 months then it stopped working and she returned to being a stress head! I rang and asked why this was happening and they said to give her 10 days of the loading dose again as she had become immune to the dosage she was getting so needed to re-boost it before dropping back down to maintenance dose again.

I actually didn't bother though as it was ridiculously expensive and although it was fab for the first 5 months I wanted to have a look at other things on the market. Never did decide on another product though and my mare has been manageable off calmers for over a year now. But initially it was by far the best thing I've tried. Nupafeed, magic and Blue Chip Kalma were useless
 
I am looking for a clamer for our horse who gets very uptight when schooling. I have not heard of this one, can someone tell me more! Who makes it, price and where to buy.
I am thinking of trying winning ways by Equi feast, any info/ results?

I bought mine from Old Mill Saddlery online and they were brilliant and it always arrived a day or two after I ordered it. Very good service from them and it costs around £45 iirc.

For info on the Equifeast product PM langside as when I was looking she sent me a great PM about the product and she really rated it.

Ditto. Relax Me is super stuff. I am down to one rounded scoop in his one daily feed now and he is chilled and relaxed. I never did the loading dose as I was in no hurry for it to kick in so it did take a couple of weeks. I was feeding 20ml twice a day and now he gets probably 30ml once daily.

I found the instructions confusing (it doesn't take much to confuse me) as they just state to feed 20ml in every feed. Now my horse was getting 3 forage type feeds a day, but I never fed 3 lots of Relax Me else it would have run out in no time.

The large tub states 80 doses so I guess that would now last me 60 days approximately.
 
We used it - at max recommended doses - on a jumping pony we had about 4yrs ago an it had no effect whatsoever. Perhaps it might have worked if we had upped the amount - 4x rec amount suggested in an earlier post? - but at the time I was disappointed Have heard others rave about it though and think my experience was very much in the minority.
 
I nused this on my 13.2hh games pony and it took the sillyness off her but still kept her alertness and speed. I did feed the recommended 16hh horse dose though which is what Robert said to do. You feed the maximum for a week or 2 and then ease off it as required. If you google horse first and give them a call they will advise you and might even send a sample!
 
Just wondering what was the outcome for Equifeast, I just discovered it the other day and Im thinking of trying it for my spooky, slightly backwards thinking but talented event horse!
 
Didn't work on my TB - gave him diaorrhea (the only time in 3.5 years that he got it) plus he got even more stressy/trembly. Was ok within 48hours of coming off it, so put him back on in case it was a coincidence and had the same problem again. Binned it at that point! Not necessarily Relax Me's fault - had the same problem (without the diaorhhea) on Nupafeed. Think Ronnie couldn't handle the magnesium (i've since heard that lots of TBs can't cope with it, although some are greatly benefitted by it).
 
Thanks everyone. I am looking forward to giving it a go. Just been out and bought a large tub so fingers and toes crossed as this is possibly the make or break for our partnership.
 
It's been brilliant for one of mine, only did the loading dose for 3 days then straight onto the maintenance dose for a couple of weeks then dropped her to half a scoop a day which is just right.

I bought some for my YO and he says it's made a huge difference to his youngster within 2 days.

I've been told that when horses become immune to calmers, as they do, it's best to change products for a tub and then go back to the original.
 
It didn't work for my horse either. I gave him the correct loading dose and probably slightly more but I noticed no change at all.

The only change I've noticed is when I fed him something from a company called Equiform Nutrition Ltd. Their product is called stay calm and I fed it in liquid form. Some top showjumpers use it too.

I definitely noticed a remarkable change to his attitude to work with this. His spookiness was more managable at home (worse at home than out). I have tried a few and this works for mine. He's off it now and I've put him on Magic (the powders stuff) as I am slowly trying to ween ''myself'' off them :D

They have a bit of a placebo effect I think really, they give the rider the comfort of their horse being on a calmer.
I changed my horses routine and hacked out lot's more than schooling and this is the reason I think he's changed his attitude, rather than perhaps the calmers?
 
i've had 2 on it for about a month. one of whom has always been a stresshead and i've tried loads of calmers and nothing has worked. i did the loading dose for 10days then onto one scoop a day and haven't noticed a difference in him at all. the other one was super fit, bouncing out of skin and being really sharp and it's definitely taken the edge off him without affecting his performance adversely. he's still pinging over the jumps, but his dressage is much more controlled.

I love Equifeast Cool, Calm and Collected. Last year my horse was a total nightmare, tried him on various calmers but nothing worked he was vile on the ground, vile to ride, totally horrible.

Started feeding him Cool, Calm and Collected and he is like a different horse, we could hardly hack in company last year, this year we hack out on our own no problems, he's far more sensible to lead and copes with problems a lot better.
