grrr - 2 steps foward 3 back. After all hoof problems, the Old Macs have broken. I had just started to ride again. Lets hope the warranty holds good. Poor old Moosey. Anyway, I would be interested in hearing what people use for chilling their TBs out - he is so frustrated.

MIne really enjoys a massage from the massage lady

Don't know your history, but have you tried feeding a calmer? I'm assuming he's on daily turnout and a high fibre diet? Are you on a yard? some are better on quiet yards and some better on busy ones.

I have a very stressy and nervous Welsh cob, who recently had to be on box rest and has then had to have over a month off due to hoof injury. I found it was a blessing in disguise! During the box rest I've tried loads of exercises with him like using clicker training, tellington touch etc to get him to think a bit and be confident with various things (i.e., have used tellington touch to make him much more sensitive, i.e. moving away from pressure to do a turn on forehand or haunches, rein back, to relax and walk over scary things like coloured planks etc. this is really useful for my horse because he really doesn’t understand the idea of lateral movements when being ridden, and is a bit all over the place – so Ttouch teaches them to think about their feet!! have also clicker trained him to play football/rein back in command etc). I’ve found his sort of thing is great to keep his mind occupied and also useful then when you start riding again too! Also helps develop your relationship with them.
Obviously may not be suitable depending on your horses’ injury – but there’s no end to useful stuff you can teach them, e.g. putting head down for bridle etc – without making them move! Hope that helps anyway. Good luck with your horse!
