Relentless rain and rugging

Neither of mine get rugged, in winter in the day they are out whatever the weather or temperature, neither are clipped, one is totally native, so really doesn't need anything, the other is retired and about 32/33, he doesn't need anything either, but, if it's going to be raining non stop all day and a cold wind, due to his age he gets a rain sheet on to keep the wind off and keep him dry, I don't like horses mollycoddled and over rugged, but common sense should prevail due to breed/clipped/age etc, owners really should use common sense and know their animal, and look after accordingly, plus it's not about the owners convenience, it's about the animals needs and welfare.

The 24 yo rescue coblet who is clipped every 6 weeks to help with his CPL is of course rugged accordingly, but neither NF 4 & 5 yo need rugging. Their winter field is beautifully sheltered and the entire herd just moves to wherever they feel most comfortable. Coblet just stays put, steadily munching until a call brings him marching to the gate ready to come in for supper and tucking up for the night. 🤣 I know he's spoilt but he's earned the best retirement we can give him☺️
