Relief for lower back pain?

Deep heat, hot bath (don't put deep heat on for at least hour and half after getting out of bath/shower though) and stretches: right hand to left toes/left hand to right toes. Can be done sitting down on the floor or standing but keep your legs straight.
These stretches are what my doc advised me to do, but it may be worth getting checked out by a pro yourself as there could be an under lying cause.

Despite being the wrong side of 50 I've only just visited a Chiropractor after having had back pain for years (on and off since a teenager). It has helped tremendously but he does insist on me doing exercises to strengthen my core as well. Am now able to pick things up from the floor without bending knees and put my socks on again easily. After an initial course of about 8/9 sessions I don't go again for another 3 months.

Chiropractor sessions really helped me, turns out it was my neck, shoulders and hips that were the problem that resulted in me twisting and causing my back to hurt. Acupuncture is meant to be really good too. xoxo

- warm shower in the morning to loosen back up
- regular osteopathy
- Biofreeze gel or roll-on, good penetrating stuff which isn't too stinky
- Back on Track back support
- proper stretches before riding
- Pilates and constant posture checking. Even simple things like not sticking your stomach out and slumping while you're driving, that sort of thing.
Failing that, something purely medicinal!!
