What would you do in this situation...
If your horse had been out on loan for a year. Owned for 15 yrs and loved dearly, but know you dont have the time to ride her or really give to her as you have two others if she returns to you.
Would you try and re-loan her and maybe have the same situation where she might come back, causing worry and upset for the horse and you other horses as well as yourself or would you sell her on as you are used to her being away, when you visited the horses didnt reakonise you and you felt happy with her going to a good home..
Just wondering really...dont know what to do....

I think in that case, as heartbreaking as it would be, I would sell. It would be unfair to cause worry and upset every time she needed to be re-homed; not to mention the anxiety of the recurring situation which affects you AND your other two horses every time the situation comes around again.

If you know she's going to a good home then i would sell. She's only going to get older and more difficult to sell and loan.

thanks everyone - I have asked the current loaners if they would be interested in buying her and if they say no then it prob will be a loan with view to buy. She is on horsemart but no one has called this weekend...:0(
Thanks for all your comments

I have to say if it was me I would sell but would be very, very choosy about how the horse went too. If the horse is reasonably priced this wouldn’t be hard. I would try and sell though word of mouth first off.

I just know too many loan situations that just haven’t worked out or have turned nasty.
