Hi I'm in the process of relocating to Scotland with my family from Co Durham, because of hubby's work. We are going to be renting a house in Dunfermline but me and my daughter need livery for 2 horses. Does anyone know of any livery yards in the area or the name of tack/feed shops where I might find local ads for stabling. We should be moving in about 3 weeks.

We are excited about the move but obviously nervous as we don't know where to find livery/tack/feed shops, vets, farriers etc, so if anyone could give us a few contacts/info that would be great.

Also new to this forum so another first for me!

Any help would be appreciated. Thx :)

Sorry, I can't help but I wanted to say hello to and keep bumping! Some one will come along with all the info, its a great forum. :)

What area of Dunfermline? Langfaulds livery yard is about 5 miles east of dunf on the road between carnock and saline. It used to belong to a relative but not sure what it is like now, It was just a farm with a couple of horses then.
or there is barnes farm in dalgety bay which is more west.
If you google livery yards dunfermline there are a few that come up.

I cant help either (sorry) I have recently moved back to scotland. I phoned my what would be local riding schools to see if they could help me with livery yards feed merchants etc.
Good luck

Don't know of any off the top of my head as it's wrong area for me. But I'll ask around and see if anyone knows!

Hi thanks for all the advice guys. I'll definitely go through those possibilities this week. It's the Duloch Park area (sort of North East) of Dunfermline, just off the M90, we moving to - I travel about 7 miles to yard at home at moment but don't mind travelling a bit further. Think it will probably be a case of "needs must" anyway.

Still open to more suggestions if anyone knows anymore or knows anyone with a couple of spare stables to rent.

Thanks again

Hi,
im from dunfermline and have been in many yards in and around dunfermline. it all depends on what your looking for, wester dean haed and langfaulds are the only ones that have indoor schools, wester dean head also has a tack shop and feed room, very good hacking too. but if you use another livery place there is an excellent feed shop just outside carnock, jaws, paws n claws. she will order in anything you need. as for tack shops i either use, stirlingshire or the tack room near kinross. any questions pm me i know a lot of livery yards in the area. m

ps. chesnuttymare who was your relative that owned langfaulds?

also too add, vet wise there are 3 main ones, loch leven -horses only. inglis do all animals and another one that also do all animals, cameron and gregg. farriers in the area are, sean broadfoot (i have his number) and andrew but ur best bet is with sean.
