Hey
I was wondering if you could give me a little advice/reassurance please?!
On Saturday my lad & I had a collision with the road after a few crossed wires!!!!!! I ended up in a & e being x rayed all afternoon (nothing broken) & he has a few scrapes & cuts to show for his escapades.
His cuts are clean & healing nicely already however his fetlock is a little swollen. It's not huge & he's not lame on it - it's no worse than you'd expect it to be after he's fallen on the road & banged/twisted it. We haven't had the vet out as it didn't seem necessary with him not being lame & the cuts & grazes healing nicely (no deep cuts - all superficial), however, my YM has been keeping an eye on him & also thinks he's perfectly fine.
Anyway, I rode him last night - just round the block (probably 20 mins) in walk. He was fine, didn't feel lame however, he was a bit reluctant to go forwards without me chivvying him along most of the time.
Do you think this is because he's still a little sore & stiff (as I am) from the accident?
Should I be gradually building hacks up in walk before moving onto trot work or should I get after him & push him on or give him another couple of days to recover?
Thanks
