Hi. My 15yr old ID/TB x mare is quite stiff in her hind limbs, but during the last year or so, she is reluctant to lift one of her front legs to pick out her feet. she gives you the other one instead (Bless!). When you pick it up, she holds it stiff and it shakes for a few seconds (As in where she is trying to avoid it bending back at the knee), once its picked up she is ok. (If you lift it after excercise she is fine). If she has hunted she is sometimes slightly lame on this leg for a few days. (Do you think it is arthritis in the knee?) Has anyone had similar problems? I am considering getting the vet as she has recently been slightly lame on it after a particularly vigourous pleasure ride, but just wondered in the meantime.

I am assuming arthritis as that is her problem in her hocks and she's fine once she has warmed up.

Does sound like it could be arthritis, bless her being so giving to offer the other leg! I would get the vet to check her out as if its not that then you may be making the problem worse in the meantime.

Hope shes ok
