Does anyone have any recommendations?

-Ive tried a 'normal' farrier and my horses collapsed heels and cracked foot have gotten worse so.. remedial it is!

Thanks

I used to livery in south wales, but honestly never found a farrier I was happy with. The only proper remedial farrier I had was Haydn Price, but I couldn't recommend him, I'm afraid. Though tbf, I think there's only so much a farrier can do for hooves whilst they have shoes on, particularly cracks and underrun heels. Going barefoot has been the only thing that has significantly improved my TB's feet.

You couldnt recommend him? ok, thats him ruled out :)

Haydn price is highly thought of and personally I would recommend him. His brother Matt price is just as good and lives in Ross on wye I think so might be close enough?

hadyn price is widely respected as THE remedial farrier, and has worked with olympic horses. he helped bring my tb back from the brink after some particularly shoddy farriery and hock problems. he's expensive but in my opinion worth every penny. i now use mike wolverson for my showjumpers, he's fab and really listens. have used tim rooney, wade willis, toby faulkner, john croft, roy parsons, matthew martin, julian movahead. would recommend wade and tim as well as mike but only hadyn as a remedial. hope that helps!

Haydn Price is Carl Hester's farrier, so he must be quite good!

Old thread ;).

He's a lovely guy, don't get me wrong, and I'm sure he's good at putting a shoe on. I'm just not convinced he actually knows that much about hooves - outside putting shoes on them. He looked at my TB's feet, with under run heels, thin soles, bullnosed hind feet, distal descent of p3, etc etc, and didn't seem to notice any of it.

Well isn't that funny, you seem to know so much about what he isn't good at maybe you should shoe your own seen as you know so much?!?!?!

Is there any point in signing up, having trawled through threads (that have clearly gone down the page) then cause an argument? Christ, there's enough arguing/disagreements in the horse world that one has to deal with day to day in person, without it bleeding through onto online forums.

Live and let live.

Each to their own. I'm sure one person's opinion won't ruin his reputation, don't worry.
