Remember my Quarter Horse post?

Thanks,
Here's the sires pedigree: http://www.allbreedpedigree.com/two+id+blue+baron

Everyone in the US who knows QH's, knows 2 ID, a famous stud once standing in NE.

Also a big, big fan of the Skipper W and Winchester found on your horses bottom side. They are known for their rideability, sweet temperment and great confirmation. I stand a Skipper W stallion and he crossed nicely onour Winchester bred mares.

Do you all hunt on the QH's? Sorry for my ignorance.

hunt !!!!???? not sure but think the nearest would be aqha hunter under saddle classes most owners do reining, pleasure, trail halter and some do barrels, cattle, games and some just for hacking out and as a family horse www.aqha.uk.com

He's lovely :) I met my first QH in person (so to speak) recently and have firmly decided that I'm going to get myself one when I'm a bit older as I won't have the energy for these blinking warmbloods forever!

Please keep posting pics of his progress!

How rude perfect11s! LOL :D I'll have you know that Prince Charles used to hunt a QH in Leicestershire (other QH people with better knowledge of the facts please fill in details!)
I did hunt a QH mare we had on loan on one occasion. She was a bit of a hottie anyway (ex-reiner) and was wonderful for the first hour before she got a bit excited! But yes, a few people do hunt them.

As Perfect11s says, most interest in QHs in the UK is for western showing but they make amazing hacks...a friend, who only rides English recently bought a QH from our trainer, and at the weekend I witnessed her non horsey husband enjoying a lovely hack on him :)

To the OP - you will have such a lot of fun with your youngster, but will have to be quite disciplined with him as he grows up. They are extremely bold and intelligent, and if you give them an inch, they will take a mile :D

The other important point is that they love getting dirty, so having bought a Perlino I suggest you take out shares in horse shampoo NOW LOL!

Well done Minigal & good luck with your baby QH. I too have bought a yearling QH and he's a lovely little fellow. I will take your advice Ironhorse and keep him in order!

I intend to hunt him (but not over jumps - I'm too old), hack and show at western - probably Pleasure, but we will see what he's best at when he grows up.

QHs rock!

Thanks guys :D

I met his dad over a year ago so was waiting for him to be born really - I have a 3yo Paint gelding from the same breeder who is just amazing. The way it has all worked out is like fate (and I'm not a big sayer of that!)

Having always had coloureds, and being a lover of GLEAMING white socks, I have many many gallons of horse shampoo. On one memorable occasion I did actually dye my coloured boy a lovely shade of blue before a show by getting too excited with the blue shampoo :D :D

He's coming to me to be a(nother) best friend and adored family horse. No big expectations or plans, just going to enjoy getting to know him and hopefully next year once he's been castrated get him out to do some low key inhand showing. Ideally he will be my (very striking) hack and RC horse but I look forward to seeing where our story goes!

nice looking boy, Im sure you will never want another breed once you get to know QH's.
here's mine, I bought her when she was six months old, she's now three and a half and will be competing this autumn (reining.)
