Remember the child killed on her quad bike?

This was such an avoidable tragedy. I feel so sorry for everyone involved though, the parents are already going through their own personal hell. The right's and wrong's of what happened will never bring their precious daughter back.

probably not. But hopefully it will highlight the dangers involved in letting a child loose on the roads on a quadbike.

Don't get me wrong, I am not happy thatthe father has been arrested but IMO it was clear that he was at fault and if atleast a show of punishment isn't shown then the little girl died pointlessly (possibly not the right word). We are all currently fighting for a cause where nothing was done in the past and this inactivity lead to a wide scale tragedy. This is another example of something that should not happen again so arresting the father is sending a message out.

I'm not sure, will punishing the father give any benefit to anyone?

You could ask this question every time an act of neglect or omission or positive criminal act is done that impacts on a close relative of the suspect. The fact that he will be grieving for his daughter is no reason to disregard the decisions he made and the outcome.

So often you hear of car crashes where somebody will be saying 'poor xxx, he lost his best friend in that accident', whereas in many cases it should be 'xxx killed his best friend'.

All a question of perception, really.

They must go through the motions and try him to see if an offence was committed.

I dare say even if he is found guilty the judge will hand down a sentence appropriate to the situation.

His suffering will be greater than anything the courts can hand down guilty or no.

I know that this is a sad situation all round but we really must remember that there are laws with quad bike ownership-they are not for road use UNLESS bought as road legal and therefore tax'd mot'd and insured.
My husband has a quad bike and has to have a trailer to take it anywhere as it is off road only.
I know its sad but laws are there for a reason, and really should a 9 year old have been on a road on a motorized vehicle??? You can't get a licence till you are 17.

Can anyone tell me why the father is going to be arrested but the mother is not?

I don't think that the lady driving the RR was at fault - sad situation all round though.
