How do they work? Hear me out, genuine idea.
I’m trying to come up with an idea to get my old dogs attention. She’s stone deaf and has learnt a few hand signals which is working really well. Obviously she has to be looking at me when I signal.
I thought I’d I can find a collar which vibrates and teach her she gets a treat or fuss that maybe I can buzz to get her attention and then signal “come” or this way, whatever it is I want to say.
It’s times like In the evening when she’s tootling round the garden or when I’m doing horses she loves snuffling round the hay shed or field (or chicken coop!)
I then have to go search for her and touch her to get her to look.
As soon as I’ve got her attention she does whatever instantly.
I don’t want a shock feature incase I ever pressed the wrong thing!
Might/could this work?

I’ve heard of this for deaf dogs and as long as she doesn’t get stressed by it I don’t see an issue - it’s not for punishment like shock collars are used, it’s just a little “hey pup I want you” since yours is already quite well trained it’ll probably work well even on the lower setting.

Yes I don’t think she’d need much at all, as you say it’s just an attention grab.
Stressing her out is one thing that I’d have to be careful of though. I remember one Christmas someone bought her a scarf and she hated it, along with dog coats (yes I’ve tried ? she’s 16 and I figured might appreciate staying dry at least, she didn’t!)
So she’s not a fan of different things.
@gunnergundog, oh perfect thank you! There’s me thinking it was my own idea ?
That’s quite expensive but definitely an interesting option.
I may start with holding my phone on her neck on vibrate in return for a treat and see how she reacts.

I could do with something like this for my mare.:) I suspect she is deaf as she doesn't react to voice at all. Even when on our top field which has a chain looped over the inner gate she never reacted to hearing it rattle. All our others do and the sheep too. She has to see us before she reacts. Can be very hard to find a bay horse in the dark.
