Ok, not so much a scratch as a deep indent if that makes sense? Leather noticibly depressed but surface unbroken.

I was riding in my horsewear corrib jacket today and as I dismounted the zip at the bottom of the jacket scraped right down my new saddle :(:(

Any tips/suggestions? :(

Is it on a flap or the seat?
If it is on the seat with time it may just 'un-dent' its self. If it is on the flap, I don't know sorry.

If discoloured you could always get some leather dye to darken it up so it is less visible.

I've done the same with a zip and felt awful as it wasn't my saddle! :o

I think what I would do would be to leave the saddle alone for a bit and meanwhile try to reproduce the same type of injury/indentation in a few places on a piece of leather that doesn't matter...an old stirrup leather, headcollar or similar... and then set about your experiment.
I haven't got any solutions but it's worth a fair bit of trial and error, I reckon I'd try a bit of steam first to see if the dent swells, maybe put a bit of oil on it first.
Good luck!

Oh God - I was hoping there would be a fool proof method lol!

Thanks for your replies - think i'll try the oil and steam approach and let you know how I got on - fingers crossed! x

Try the steam on something other than your saddle. Steam and leather don't sound as though they would tend to mix!
