Removing scratches from saddle (pics)

This was Tweenie's saddle after she slipped on black ice this morning and fell on the road. It now has alot of scratches on it.

Same saddle after a good clean and oiling. I can still see the scratches, obviously, but they are better. Is there anything else that can be done? I also can't get the mark out of the suede, but didn't really expect to.

there are little solid blocks you can get of suede cleaner, might be worth a try.
lots of really good saddle soap like Effax, would be my suggestion for the leather.
hope the horse is okay, most importantly!

More elbow grease and time will soon sort that out! You will always know it's there but it should be that nobody else does! You could try a hot almost dry cloth on the suede to bring the knap up a bit like you do with a riding hat by steaming it in the bathroom.

Thanks for the tip though. Blasted ice. Can't understand why she slipped on it and Patches didn't. Never known a pony more sure footed than Tweenie and more likely to slip/fall than Patches.

That happened to mine (luckily it was different circs to how yours got scratches. Scary stuff & thank goodness they're both ok)

& lots of regular soaping & oiling bought it up. Ko-Cho Line leather dressing was really good at getting it up.

I'm guessing you've used it before but if not then it's a deep red grease that you work into the leather & it really softens it & brings the leather up.
Make sure you work it in well & leave it to absorb because otherwise you end up with mucky jods (unfortunately I know that from experience....

)

My saddle had a huge deep scratch in the knee roll, over time with plenty of cleaning and oiling it is hardly visible, so much so Dad accused me of buying yet another saddle.

Mine was alot worse than yours so there is hope

Phew glad to see that they got a lot fainter though, as I have a huge scrape all across my new saddle from where I fell off- oops
