Rent going up 20% - ECK

I pay £100 pm/ph and I have use of indoor stables, outdoor school, fields which are poo picked for me, heated tack room and proper toilet, oh and lorry parking is included.

I know of a yard which IS complete DIY i.e, you have a field that is fenced ( not very well) and a water bowser that is filled up for you. You have to make your own stables/ shelter, run any electrics off a genny and have no use of a school nearby. There it is £15 pcm/ ph.

I always get depressed reading these posts!!

PLEEEEEEEEASE if anyone is remotely near Reading and gets indoor outdoor schools, stables, nice fields etc for £15 a week dear god let me know!!!!HAHA!

It is around £120-150 pm here for DIY to include stable, use of outdoor school and grazing. No extras. Im soooo jealous of some of you!

Clearly as some have already said, it depends on your experience and what you are used to. Of course our YO does the permiter fencing and the fence lines in between all VERY large fields. She also maintains the grazing, fertlizes etc etc.

But if we want leccy fencing up for any reason then we put it up.

In general maintenace of buildings etc YO does, however if we want to give a stable a lick of preservative then we can. I dont think anyone other than YO should get involved with actual electrics to lights etc.

I suppose that having come from my own yard, it is natural just to get on with it, rather than expecting someone else to do everything. DIY to me is provide me with grazing and stable and I will do the rest.

Some people don't have much of clue what's involved in running yard, so I suppose I like to help out as others do on our yard as the YO is usually so busy anyway and never minds helping US out when we can't get there etc.

Each to their own!

I pay £20 per month per horse, stable and grazing,we do any work needed on paddocks,as farmer old,no school, but lots of bridleways.

I get shavings very very cheap of a supplier i have had for years, and farmer charges me very little for a round bale of haylege.

Some peope need to get in to the real world with the essentials of horse keeping, land buildings and running them not cheap and be prepare to pay fair pay and for forage feed etc before they think nothing of coughing up £50 plus for a days competing (inc transport) for only a rosette at the end
