Rented land responsibility

I rent a few acres from a local farmer. He’s always been reluctant to do any form of maintenance for the field, is quite happy just sitting back & collecting the rent. However, in the recent strong winds it bought down two large trees into my paddock. Needless to say it’ll be my problem to resolve. However I’ve been asked not to bother him & sort myself as he’s on holiday; the problem is the tree bought down the electrical overhead cables. I feel this at the very least is his responsibility. What would you advise?

Contact the company that maintains the cables in your area
Where I am it's UK Power Networks but yours might be different
eta this is urgent and possibly dangerous! Do not try to sort it yourself!
This! You need to notify asap and they will come and make safe.

Ref maintenance, what is in your contract?
There are 4 rented yards/fields adjacent to me and all are responsible for maintenance and upkeep inc fallen trees etc on their rented land.

If the power cables are part of the national grid then notify the company that is responsible for them. With us it was Scottish Power, and they came straight out and worked through the night to restore the lines.

After further investigation it turns out to be a phone line 🤦🏻‍♀️. Thankyou for your help everyone . Panic over! (I’m away so was unable to inspect myself!)
I also don’t have a written contract to define matters like this.
