renting fields do you pay upfront or at end.

Just wondering. I always pay up front yearly. But friend was asking and she thinks you should pay at end. But surely that would lead to a lot of land owners not being sure if there money.
I always pay before I start grazing and same time following year.

I think with most things it should be up front.
Ensures the person is commited and with give the correct notice to leave etc!

I paid up front when I rented a field. At least the landowner knows they are getting their money rather than hoping for it. Unfortunately people can and do midnight flits.!

I certainly wouldn't rent a field to anyone livestock or horses without the payment for the period being made up front.

I pay a year up front, and I too would not rent anything to anyone without them paying for the agreed period in advance, or at least a deposit left to cover a midnight flit - has your friend ever rented a house?
