Hi! After a nasty incident at our yard we’ve ordered the Reolink camera - the solar powered / SIM card one. Which sim do you all use and how much data (roughly) does yours get through a month?? I can’t seem to find an answer on their website and want it up and running tomorrow! Thanks!

One friend uses a Vodaphone and another uses Giffgaff. I’ve got one waiting to go up and I’ve got a Giffgaff for it on its £6 monthly plan. The data needed obviously depends on how much you look at the stable and what settings and notifications you plan on having on.

ETA if you want notifications of anyone coming into your stables you will probably need a lot of data.

I know it sounds obvious but make sure your solar panel is positioned to get maximum sunlight, particularlyin the winter. My battery went down to less than 50% for quite a few weeks when the weather was cloudy or even when the sun was low in the sky. I just avoided having to take it home to plug it in to charge. Having the camera set up to to notify movements in the stable really drains the battery so I turned that function off, I don't think it would have charged enough just on a solar panel.

Smarty sim card, you can change amount of data month by month as no contract. We have smarty sims in 2 cameras. We don't have the camera setup to alert us to movement as it would notify us each time the horses moved. We turn off the alerts same as above poster as battery would drain too quickly otherwise as its pointed at horses

I have a vodafone VSim at £4/month which I don’t think they do anymore, so that’s no help, and also a Giffgaff at £6/month. It’s not a contract so you are free to increase or decrease as you want to and it’s cheaper than most I’ve looked at.
