Repairing a stable roof

I currently have 4 x 14 by 14 stables. They have been up for about 13 years and the roof which I believe is Onduline (it looks like corrugated cardboard) is starting to leak. Interestingly it has about half a dozen places where it is now leaking slightly but they all have only started to appear in the last 12 months.

The stables are well built and the roof has never suffered from any sagging etc. but I feel through a number of long windy winters the roof may have 'lifted' slightly and joins are now becoming soggy and weathered.

I am wondering whether anyone has any advice on what would be best i.e. is it repairable; should we take the roof off and start again; can we put the same sort of material over the existing roof therefore having a 2nd skin; should we do something completely different?

The easiest and most cost effective solution is sought but ideally looking for something that would give a similar life span. Any recommendations welcome

If the Onduline has lasted that long and only just started to leak you have done well..You could black jack it (Bitumen) but it would probably just be as cheap to replace it..Yes you could just roof over the existing roof but you might find it causes condensation..Rip it off and start again would be my choice.

That is the approx lifespan of onduline, so it has done what it says in the marketing etc, I would personally replace like for like, as it is the easiest to do DIY and also the rafters etc will be in the right locations for it, and also might not support a heavier material without reinforcement if only designed for onduline.

If it isn't lined with OSB board underneath I would do that tho if you can, as that should prevent any lift etc.

we've just had to repair ours. the front had started to sag and then one of the branches of next doors trees fell through the back of the roof (no horses in, fortunately). We replaced the old onduline sheets with new ones - cost £800 for three 12x12 stables and a tack room, including labour.

Many thanks for the responses. It seems removing and replacing seems a good call. I am living the dream of my own property but have learnt fast that it can become a nightmare with the high costs of repairs and maintenance. Probably my next step is to see how much the materials would be and then a price for replacing - not a job my husband would tackle but do have relatives in the building trade.

Anyone any idea how much the onduline sells at? My stable block is 56 ft long each box 14ft deep with approx a 2.6 ft overhang?
