Does anyone else seem to have this problem at the moment???
Yesterday was the third time in as many weeks that I have gone splat - and they are gradually getting more hairy!
All was going well, having a wee jump (will admit weather was a bit stormy but was clearing) and we trotted up to this wee 2ftish jump which he had been terrified of but now quite liked. and he did this almighty leap (cleared it by miles) and I didn't have time to get my ass out of the saddle, but landed back in saddle minus stirrups and was ok UNTIL he took off at the fastest gallop I have ever felt him do - straight at another jump. So to avoid being splatted on that I chose the ground (plus he was about 4 strides away from a turn and an electric fence - ouch).
Managed to skid along ground, folding down the top of my leather boots
, and taking the skin off my elbow. The funny thing is, that had there not been a turn coming up I was on track to get my stirrups back, and could have slowed him down, but if I try trotting with stirrups I just about slither off the side!!
At least I am not so scared of falling now s its not really a long way down - its just recking my riding gear (never hit head this time so that lord hat ok!!), and I am sure I will fall apart if the wind blows the wrong way.
