Hi,

I was wondering what the approx cost is to replace a horsebox floor- horsebox is a van conversion.

Also- what would be the best and strongest material?

I’ve also read that some people prefer rubber mats that aren’t bonded. What are the reasons for both bonding and not bonding?

Aluminium plank flooring seems to be preferred at the moment. I had my compact 7.5T re-floored by a horse box engineer who is also a friend so got 'mate's rates' at £1200. He said for a 7.5T it's usually around £3k but a small 3.5T would obviously be a lot cheaper.

My new 4.5T has bonded supposedly non-slip flooring but it was very slippery on day one. It's improving with use but I think rubber mats are more non-slip, I ended up putting on in for a while while my horse got used to travelling backwards.

Thanks- I know some people prefer unbonded so that they can air the floor underneath and make it easier for checking; but others I've seen prefer bonded to stop urine from getting to the floor in the first place.

Mine is currently unbonded but I'm looking at getting the floor checked when I have the MOT done in November and if needed, potentially replace with something robust. Mine is currently ply with alluminium and the unbonded rubber matting over the top.
