I am looking at possibly replacing a ramp on a 3.5T horsebox. It is not an ifor williams type.
I wondered if anyone had done this and wondered if anyone had a rough idea as to how much it might cost?

Thanks in advance!

i was quoted 2000 near me and saw a company near leeds doing it for 1200 (and wondered if they were no good being that cheap!!) is 800 normal then?

I'm not sure tbh. The company I asked are considered to be fairly pricey round here. I didn't get any other quotes in the end (RIP Lorry!) but most people thought I would get it done cheaper elsewhere.

A friend did mine a couple of years ago, he used Brazilian Plywood, then put coconut matting on as this is less slippery than rubber matting and then we got the metal strips from our local metal factory. All in all I think it cost around £200 with the screws etc and a drink for doing it.

the prices i got were for building and fitting a new ramp from scratch, do you just mean refurbing your existing one?

I got my current ramp refurbished for £350 (as in re-soldered the supports, replaced the wood with marine ply) to replace ramp completely was about £750, that's in Lancs and I have a side ramp on a 3.5 tonner.

We just refurbished our ramp, the ply had gone soggy. So changed all the ply for marine type 18mm ply. We got some good secondhand stuff from InExcess and so only cost about £40 total, with lots of our own effort.

I just had the top part of mine redone (not sure if you need this or just the bottom). They also have to replace the back panel due to the damage. The total bill will come to about £2000 + VAT. My guess would be the ramp bit lone would have been about £1200.

I got 3 quotes and the other 2 were about £6k! So do shop around.
