Replacing saddle flocking

Have any of you ever had the whole of you saddle flocking removed and then totally re-done? If so what was it like after? Was it worth it? What did it cost?

I have a new saddle and have been told the front has no stuffing and the back has way too much and wanted to know what other people thought before parting cash. Also with flocking do your saddlers do on site or in their workshop? Mine wants to do in their workshop then come out and check it fits etc
 
I had my dressage saddle completely reflocked last year when I go Dexter as it was quite hard, Katie Eaton did it, I highly reccommend her but she is in Colchester area I think
 
It was under £100 I know that much!

I cant remember really, think £65 ish rings a bell! It was def worth it though I could see and feel the difference and im sure Dexter could too!
 
Cool well mine is going to be £100 (including call out to check). My saddle suits the horse but it needs some adjustment to suit both myself and the horse
 
Mine gets a complete "reflock" or rebalance every 6 months - and I am happy as a pig in slop with my master saddler ! Usually costs about £65.00 but well worth it to keep my girls saddle in tip top condition !
 
my saddler wants £80 plus VAT. It is worth doing, although I do not believe you need to completely re-flock a saddle every 6 months, that sounds a bit over the top. There is no point in doing it, if the saddler does not check it is a good fit afterwards. my saddler would top up the saddle 2 months later for no extra charge. The flocking will settle. Modern saddlers believe the flocking should be soft and not jammed in tight.
 
It is so very worth while doing, if only for your horses comfort, but may also save you later as it could prevent future back problems. My saddler will do a complete reflock, on-site, plus follow up for just £40
