Replacing trailer floor

Hi all

My oh is handy and has agreed to replace my new trailer floor as there's a few areas starting to rot and think it's silly to pay someone to do. It when he will be perfectly capable.

Whathaveothers used to replace their floors and can you advise of the process you took to complete the job, it looks like marine ply that's been down before in panels, so assuming we can unscrew current panels to use as a template?

Any advice greatly appreciated!

Also is it necessary to replace whole floor if only a couple of areas are showing decay? I have dug the 2 spots out (about size of 50p) and they don't go right through the wood appears to be through the top layer only? My oh thinks I'm being a bit OTT about it and thinks they would be fine treated?

Be safe and replace the whole floor. Once the floor is out check for any rust on the supporting sub-structures and treat them before fitting the new floor.

Agree with this.

My dad replaced one on an ifor williams a few years back and used 2 layers of marine ply and 'self drilling' screws. Also be careful of your wiring as ours was attached to the floor underneath.

Deffo replace the whole floor. Better safe than sorry. you should used some kind of strong wood or your best bet is aluminium

I would replace the entire floor, just thinking of the consequences of a floor collapse is enough to give me apoplexy. Ours was replaced with hard wood planks, leaving a gap between each of approx 1/4'' for drainage.
