Replying to Adverts....

When replying to adverts that have emails only...what would you think if you emailed the person and then not to get a reply few days down the line or not at all in some case's...

I am searching for a nice safe sensible cobby type to full loan with poss view to buy, adverts I am replying to are mainly email reply's but I am not getting any response....which I am finding rather odd really?
Am I being too inpatient? I can be inpatient.

All I want is a lovely horse to love and give a great home to once again.... Is no-one loaning their horse's these day's? I am such an honest genuine person too (honest) lol.....

What could you suggest that I do now? I have been trawling and trawling the sites everyone known to man I think lol to look to find a cobby type but there really is nothing available strange??

Any tips or whatever would be appreciated Thanks...:D
 
I'd think it was quite rude not to reply, unless the ones you are after are so popular that the people are inundated - is that likely?

Although thinking about it, are they actually being advertised for loan? Maybe people are offended if they are advertising them for sale, and you ask for a loan?

I used to get a bit miffed when people asked about my daughter's cob when she outgrew him, and then said they'd like him on loan. I used to think I damn well had to pay for him, if you like him and want him, then offer to pay!

For some people loan with a view to buy is tricky, maybe if they get a few replies wanting to buy, then they are less likely to reply to you. Just a thought!
 
Yes the one's I reply to are for loan's as I know how cheeky asking for a horse to loan is when it's for sale....I want to loan with view to buy to make sure we both gel together I give my animals forever homes too so it wouldn't be a case of yeah I'll loan it for a few months then give it back I am not like that at all...

I have no idea if the one's I am replying to are popular there has been a couple though that are absolutley gorgeous and maybe they are attracting alot of interest?...
 
i think it is a bit rude, whether in undated with emails or not you should always reply.
all the horses i have sold i have wanted them to go on loan first to make sure that the possible new owner and the horse a right for each other. if not then i will gladly take them back.
if you dont get a reply i would mail back again and ask if said horse is still available, if they still dont get back to you i would look for something else xx

I think it is extremely rude not to reply and even if the horse has now gone, it isn't too difficult to just send a quick reply to that effect. Mind you, cobs ARE selling; a friend of mine recently sold exactly what you are after. They put an ad on Horsequest and within a couple of hours had had a dozen replies with four booked viewings. He sold within a couple of days.

I understand where your coming from - and your intentions are honestly a lot better than someother people buying and regretting - I have never sold a horse (Just circumstances really) but I would like to know its a forever home.

perhaps they arent keen to sell - too attached??

It's very rude if they have deliberately chosen not to reply. However it could have gone into their junk mail? Is there any number to ring- could ring as a last resort and tell them that you tried to e-mail but that there was no reply. I'd try to either ring or send another e-mail, maybe it wouldn't go into the junk folder twice.
 
Maybe you are coming across as too risky to them and they don't want you having further details...

You say you understand that horses for sale are for sale, and not for loan, so don't contact them. But you are doing something just as odd if you contact people about horses that are for loan, wanting to buy them! Which is what you want...if the owners wanted to sell their horse, they would have advertised for sale, not loan. If people advertise a loan, they aren't thinking 'loan for a couple of months and then sell'. They might think you would do a runner with their horse anyway if they said no, loan only....to be honest I wouldn't feel happy giving someone who wants to own my horse it out on loan and wouldn't take it any further.

Too risky!!! - right ok, I am far from it actually I would have a horse on full loan or if one came up that was LWVTB then great...but to be classed as risky is a bit ermmm....weird!

I have had horse's in the past on loan, infact I bought my last boy that I had on loan for a couple of yrs 1st as owner didn't want ownership and offered to me....so there are people out there that would be happy for their horse to go to a loving GENUINE home thank you.

And anyway, all the details are discussed before I even go to view a horse etc... so we all know where we are at.
